FILL UP YOUR WORD-TANK
(Have A Rich Deposit Of The Word)
TO THE BIBLE Colossians 3:16
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
LET’S TALK Some believers are too shy to preach the Gospel either because they don’t know what to say or they
fear the embarrassment of being confronted with questions arising from the Word that they may not have answers to. No excuse, however, is good enough to exonerate a Christian from obeying the Master’s great commission for us to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth (Mark 16:15).
This is however one of the reasons it’s important to study and know the Word of God as our opening scripture instructs. As Christians, we have a responsibility to preach the Gospel, and to do this convincingly, in a world full of doubts and sense-knowledge, we ought to do so with boldness, authority and power of the Spirit, and God’s Word is our authority and power. So you need to diligently equip yourself with the Word before you venture out to preach.
I learned early in church to take notes and write down Bible references while listening to the Pastor or whoever it was that shared the Word. This helped me a great deal in acquiring a rich knowledge of God’s Word and made me more effective in winning souls into the Kingdom. This is a good way to equip yourself with God’s Word; it worked for me and I believe it will for you too.
Furthermore, there’re a good number of Christian materials such as books and tapes that could be of help to you as you avail yourself the opportunity to learn God’s Word through them. Remember the Bible says: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom...” (Colossians 3:16). When your spirit is inundated with the Word, you’ll be bold with the Gospel, and as the Word says, you’ll “...be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear” (1 Peter 3:15).
The Word of God is dwelling richly in me. I live by the Word. I’m bearing fruits in every good work, and I’m winning souls into the Kingdom. Through the power of God’s Spirit and His Wisdom working in me, I’m ready always to give an answer to every man that asks me questions about the blessed hope that is in me in Christ Jesus. My life is full of glory!
