SAY EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT - Sunday, July 1
(Be Specific In Your Prayers)
TO THE BIBLE Philippians 4:6 AMPC
“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.”
In Mark 10:46-52, we find the story of blind Bartimaeus who sat by the roadside in Jericho and begged alms. As Jesus made His way out of the city, a mammoth crowd thronged Him, and Bartimaeus, since he couldn’t see, asked people around him what the tumult was all about. He was told that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. Immediately, he began to cry out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.” But Jesus didn’t respond to that request. Instead, He asked, “What do you want me to do for you?” Strange, isn’t it? Even though it was obvious Bartimaeus needed a miracle, Jesus still wanted him to express his desire in specific terms.
When Bartimaeus responded, “I want to receive my sight,” the Lord’s ensuing statement was, “Receive your sight!” and Bartimaeus was miraculously healed.
Do you know how to express your desires to God in your times of need or do you just complain to Him? Understand that if you’re going to get His attention and take advantage of His extraordinary power to receive your desire, you must learn to be definite in prayer. Be specific, and tell Him exactly what you want.
God doesn’t want you crying about your situation when you pray; He wants you to express your faith. Faith makes you a possessor! And when you’ve made your definite request of the Lord, give Him glory and keep your faith-switch turned on. It won’t be long before your miracle turns up.
My faith is built strong by the Word today, and I’m producing greater results as I make my specific requests known to God. I’m guided and inspired by His wisdom to make the right requests in prayer, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
